As a Cut to Length Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for day-to-day set-up, operation and monitoring of the 60' or 72' cut to length line. 

 

This position is available on midnight shift: Sunday through Friday from 10:00pm to 6:00am. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Sets-up, operates and monitors CTL according to specifications of coil to be cut as per Company standards and customer requirements
  • Loads and unloads coil using the overhead crane
  • Keys processing information into SAP
  • Performs stock checks as required
  • Participate in the continuous improvement process
  • Take pallets off once full and strap packs
  • Ensures quantities are accurate per customer requests
  • Operate a lift truck and overhead crane to move material
  • Reports to operations manager or shift supervisor for any potential problems
  • Follow Health and Safety procedures in executing tasks and maintain a good housekeeping of respective work station
  • All other related tasks, as requested by immediate supervisor

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience as a CTL operator or similar experience
  • Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, and SAP
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate precision measuring skills and competent operation of machinery and material handling equipment
  • Must be trained in ISO policies, procedures, and work instructions as outlined in ISO 9001
  • Safety conscious and strong knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to the position, in compliance with the provincial regulations and the company’s policies
  • Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility

The expected hourly rate for this role is $30.75 to $35.69 plus any applicable shift premiums dependent on shift times.
