As a Shipper at Ryerson, you will be responsible for picking material for shipments using overhead cranes and forklifts.
Midnight Shift: Monday through Friday 10:00PM to 6:00AM.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Truck loading and unloading
- Breaking down bulk bundles for customer specific orders. Packaging of material to customer requirements. Staging of material for shipping
- Operating overhead crane, forklift and side loader to move material as needed.
- Verifies that material and stock products are received as ordered.
- Ensures that Mill Test Reports are received and /or produced as required for customer orders.
- Ensures that open orders are released and filled for shipment to the customer.
- Maintains files of receiving documents.
- Advises Inventory Manager/Buyer/Operations Manager of problems involving materials and stock products and ensures their resolution prior to final receipt.
- Scans and indexes all MTR’s.
- Works in compliance with all health, safety and environmental programs as established by legislative requirements and company policy.

Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience required.
- Previous experience in a shipping area function, preferably in the metal distribution industry, is an asset.
- Possess basic mathematical acumen
- Must be able to demonstrate accurate measuring skills.
- Comfortable using a PC - knowledge of SAP, Excel and Mainframes
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to the position, in compliance with the provincial regulations and the company’s policies.
- Must be trained in ISO policies, procedures, and work instructions as outlined in the ISO 9001 Training Matrix.
