Excelsior Metals, a Ryerson family of companies, is hiring a Quality Technician to join our Operations Team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting incoming, inter-departmental, and outgoing product while also maintaing quality records.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Measure product conformance utilizing CMM (Creaform/Polyworks), and Virtek Laser Inspection machine
- Read shop prints and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for the product and supplies
- Audit all quality check procedures put in place by Excelsior, making sure they are followed/executed during every production phase
- Understand the importance of the production schedule and execute quality inspections that align with that schedule or managerial request
- Shows flexibility and open-minded attitude toward change by accepting reassignments readily
- Ability to work closely with subcontractors, customer and external stakeholders
- Thorough knowledge of quality control standards, calibration, and testing methodologies for self and production team
- Mark (red tag), quarantine and remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications
- Maintain records of testing, material traceability, information, internal rework NCP’s and various metrics such as number of defective products per day etc.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality-related position preferred
- Proficient with interpreting engineering drawings and shop prints in accordance with GD&T, weld call outs, and tolerancing
- Able to accurately use and read precision measuring tools
- A keen eye for detail and a results driven approach
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to use continual improvement tools to find root causes of quality non-conformance on production floor
- Ability to determine root cause for CC/NCP
Salary: $50,752.00 - $76,128.00 annually. A starting salary higher than $50,752.00 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
