We’re seeking a skilled Computer Operator to manage and support job scheduling across IBM pSeries/AIX/Linux and iSeries/OS400 platforms. This role involves monitoring system performance using SolarWinds, providing first-level support to users and IT staff, and ensuring smooth operations through proactive issue resolution.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor manual and automated console operations across multiple platforms, ensuring timely completion of batch and online production systems.
• Respond to system alerts, perform scheduled server reboots (IPL/IML), and escalate issues based on predefined procedures.
• Monitor server and network health using tools like SolarWinds, addressing abnormalities proactively.
• Maintain and support enterprise job scheduling using Tidal Enterprise Scheduler and ROBOT, ensuring production schedules run smoothly.
• Track and document all data center activities and IT incidents using SharePoint, Samanage Service Desk, and custom operations logs.
• Execute and monitor SAP transports and batch job completion reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures.
• Provide first-level support for Helpdesk overflow calls and assist users in resolving operational and production issues.
• Coordinate with IT personnel and vendors to resolve hardware, software, and application problems, maintaining system performance standards.
• Foster positive working relationships across IT departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of the following software products: Tidal Enterprise Scheduler, Robot Scheduler, OS/400, Windows Server, Linux Server.
• Working knowledge of the following hardware: IBM pSeries servers, HP Intel rack-mount/blade servers, EMC Powermax, EMC Data Domain.
• Ability to plan, controls, and coordinate multiple activities.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, dealing with internal and external customers and vendors.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the changing business environment.

Salary: $21.57 - $32.26 an hour. A starting hourly rate higher than $21.57 is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
