Ryerson is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a CNC Mazak Operator , the successful candidate will utilize exisiting CNC programming software to interpret customer supplied drawings.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Write programs at the controller for a variety of parts using Mazatrol and FANUC controllers
- Reads & interprets engineering drawings
- Align and secure material on the machine, position pieces to be machined into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
- Ability to specify and manage proper tooling for the part/job
- Knowledge of the appropriate application of selected tooling
- Detect worn tooling and adjust to ensure tolerances are met
- Unloading inbound trucks using forklifts and overhead cranes
- Locating material and verifying grade, size, and quantity by visually inspecting and physically measuring the material
- Inspects all completed work for conformance to required material specifications

Requirements
- Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1-3 years of work experience operating CNC vertical machining centers
- Working knowledge of FANUC & Mazatrol controllers
- Working knowledge of G and M codes as related to vertical machining centers
- Working knowledge of CAD software related to CNC machining
- Advanced math skills and the ability to calculate feeds and speeds required
- Knowledge of and ability to use a tape measure, micrometer, and caliper are a must
- Forklift and/or overhead crane experience
- Physical ability to pass the physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
- Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training
