As a Millwright Technician at Ryerson, you will oversee the warehouse team and assist the shift Supervisor with production and department goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Operate motorized material handling equipment, including overhead cranes, side loaders, and forklifts, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Provide hands-on support during periods of high demand or when staffing is limited, demonstrating leadership by stepping in where needed.
- Train team members to ensure they are fully competent in their assigned tasks. Actively coach, mentor, counsel, and support employee development.
- Lead daily pre-shift safety and production meetings to align team goals and reinforce safety protocols.
- Identify and address workplace hazards, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns by coordinating internal repairs, arranging external service providers, or reallocating personnel as necessary to maintain productivity.
- Serve as acting manager during short-term leadership absences, ensuring continuity of operations and decision-making.

Requirements
- Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- 3 plus years of experience.
- Experience operating equipment and ability to recognize materials in the service center.
- Possesses leadership abilities and has a desire to advance, and solid interpersonal communication skills required.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
- Flexible, dependable, and solutions-oriented.
- Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility.
Salary: $28-$32 hourly. A starting wage higher that $28 an hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
