As a Welder at Ryerson, you will be responsible for applying welding and fabricating processes to metal and ensuring quality and customer standards are met.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Applies appropriate welding and assembling applications in a fabrication environment and processes metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
  • Works according to the layouts, work orders, and blueprints MIG and TIG welding equipment; will need to lay out and mark weld points on parts or sub-assemblies of some material; will also need to position pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures using measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications
  • Observes all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required records
  • Working in a safe manner as outlined during training and using prescribed safety equipment including PPE

Requirements

  • Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a steel or industrial manufacturing setting preferred
  • Extensive MIG welding experience, TIG welding experience preferred
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience
  • Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
  • Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding
