Ryerson is looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to drive process improvements and automation within our warehouse and manufacturing operations. In this role, you’ll develop manufacturing solutions, enhance welding processes, and implement technologies that improve safety, quality, and productivity. We’re seeking a problem solver who enjoys working on the production floor and collaborating with teams to make an impact.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Review customer prints, specifications, and project requirements to determine optimal manufacturing methods
- Develop and improve fabrication, welding, assembly, and material handling processes
- Create standardized work instructions and manufacturing procedures
- Lead the development and optimization of orbital welding processes
- Evaluate and implement automation technologies that improve weld quality, consistency, and throughput
- Design and improve welding fixtures, jigs, and workholding systems
- Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies throughout warehouse and manufacturing operations
- Implement process improvements that reduce labor hours, improve quality, and increase throughput
- Work with vendors and suppliers to specify, source, and implement equipment
- Assist with equipment commissioning, testing, and operator training

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Welding Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- 5+ years of manufacturing, automation, or process engineering experience
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications
- Strong understanding of welding and fabrication processes

Experience with orbital welding systems and the design of fixtures, tooling, and workholding systems (preferred)
- CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar)
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Salary: $93,194.11- $139,791.17 annually. A starting salary higher than $93,194.11 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
