As a Buyer at Ryerson, you will be responsible for understanding of supply chain concepts and maintenance of MRP inputs at the item level. You will work alongside a dedicated team servicing a key account and help execute upon strategic supply chain buy plans aligned by Ryerson Corporation In addition, you will work with commercial and production across the national Ryerson network on the alignment of supply chain/vendors for customer transactional and contract opportunities. There will be a need to help manage vendor relationships and support existing and new vendor development.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Timely execution of MRP for internally sourced items, outside processed items and external buys, and developing forecasting methods to optimize supply chain efficiency
• Replenishment, order maintenance, stock service level review including expediting as necessary
• Manage inventory for responsible items, re-deploy slow moving items within the company
• Management of inventory investment to a budget and available inventory to support sales
• Maintenance of material part numbers and vendor records
• MRP element review and adjustment to meet changing demand, processing, and business needs
• Managing vendor relationships and performance in alignment with corporate company goals
• Develop and manage relationships with key internal production teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in business or manufacturing supply chain-related field
• An understanding of MRP or inventory control systems and experience in the metals industry are a plus
• Experience or knowledge of SAP software is a plus
• Ability to read and understand blueprints a plus
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft tools including Excel, Word, Outlook and Outlook, and Sharepoint
• Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
• Excellent organization skills to manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of management and between department
