We are seeking a Product Manager who is responsible for driving the profitable growth of our business through exemplary leadership of the product team. This role is responsible for managing buyers within the assigned product category and aligning with company inventory and pricing philosophies. As a key supervisory and commercial role, the Product Manager serves as a vital resource for both inside and outside sales, leveraging in-depth knowledge of products, industry/market applications, and Ryerson’s preferred sourcing strategies.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support profitable growth of market share by handling day-to-day commercial support activities, including quoting, while leveraging negotiated programs with preferred suppliers to source.
- Provide sourcing assistance for sales for the assigned product category.
- Assist the local sales teams on all product needs they may have, such as quoting new business, updating quotes on existing business, and finding outside sources on non-stocked items.
- Assist in developing, implementing, communicating, and executing company and product line goals, including product category growth metrics such as volume and profit and inventory management metrics.
- Provide daily leadership for the product line buyers, including developing and training the team to effectively meet company goals and personal career goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the product line team and assist the Director of Procurement with employment decisions relating to the team.
- Work closely with mills, to continually improve margins and vendor performance metrics in line with company inventory goals.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or High School Diploma with 8 plus years of experience.
- 5+ years of supply chain or product sales experience desired.
- Experience with role-specific products required, metal fabrication experience a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
- Motivation and problem-solving skills, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
