We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead our Richmond, BC, facility with excellence and innovation. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the management and strategic operations of the warehouse functions. Duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining a safety-first culture, formulating strategy, enforcing company policies, improving performance, managing data, and financial reviews. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying trends and assessing opportunities to improve operational processes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Drive a strong safety culture in conformance with company and industry standards
- Lead and manage a team of front-line operators (approx. 5 staff) in the planning and execution of day-to-day operations.
- Manage staffing, supply, and equipment needs based on forecasted volumes
- Mentor, develop and expand talent and performance initiatives
- Identify and create continuous process improvement opportunities and drive strategic initiatives
- Oversee machine and building maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance programs are in place to minimize downtime
- Ensure warehouse staff are training in health, safety and environmental practices as required by OHSA and company policies
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or college degree is preferred
- 3-4 years' manufacturing experience required, preferably in the metals industry
- 5 plus years of warehouse operations management experience is required, preferably in the metal processing/distribution industry
- Understanding of ISO policies, procedures, and work instructions as outlined by ISO
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
- Knowledge of statistical process controls, warehousing, metal handling, equipment operation and transportation regulations and procedures
- Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives - e.g. Lean manufacturing, 5S LEAN, 6-Sigma, etc
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor employees
- SAP experience is considered an asset
Salary: $74,000.00 to $111,000.00 annually. A starting salary higher than $74,000.00 annually is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
