As an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator (EHS), you are responsible for implementing, auditing and ensuring compliance with all Ryerson EHS, State and Federal policies. Through daily walk throughs, active engagement and participation in the Safety Counsel, this individual will ensure employee compliance and that safety checks are being performed.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain accurate recordkeeping for EHS programs
- Implement safety programs to promote a safety culture
- Implement safety programs, train employees and supervisors to meet standards to ensure the company’s safety culture
- Lead the facility safety committee and drive the committee towards engagement in safety practices
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify potential safety hazards and work with employees and supervisors to determine and implement corrective actions
- Assist with the incident investigation team to ensure a thorough incident investigation process for near misses and injuries is maintained
- Drive continuous improvement in our safety culture while working towards exceeding site-specific safety goals
- Administrative duties may include but are not limited to: updating site specific policies, completion of monthly audits, administering training, Tier II reporting, SDS compliance and OSHA online reporting
- This position may require the ability to respond to safety needs after standard hours

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- BA/BS degree in environment, health and safety or related field highly preferred
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Must be self-directed, professional and dependable
- Knowledge and experience with MS Office
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements of OSHA, EPA, NFPA and other federal and state agencies
- 2-4 years working in an EHS role in manufacturing
