As a Shipping Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, completing paperwork for shipping/receiving, pulling and staging feedstock for production orders, and performing other tasks.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Truck loading/unloading
- Proper completion of paperwork for shipping/receiving. Pulling and staging feedstock for production orders
- Ensuring size, material finish, and accuracy of the finished goods
- Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders. Packaging of material to customer requirements. Staging of material for shipping
- Operating a crane to move material as needed. Operating a forklift or side loader to move material as needed
- Conducting daily prestart inspections on all required equipment/machines and identifying any issues
- Working in a safe manner as outlined during training and using prescribed safety equipment, including PPE
- All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice
Requirements
- Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- 2 years of similar job experience preferred
- Computer Skills
- Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
